Curacao Photographer | Madeline Hewitt Photography

People that know me probably know I am very big on a positive body image. I love to empower women and make them feel good about themselves and their body. I love to show you that no, you do not need to lose those extra pounds for you to look good for your photo session. You’re already beautiful just the way you are! The truth is that most women need a little reminder of this every so now and then, and I love that I’m able to do that through my photography.

The current unattainable body ideal

Over the past years with the rise of social media we’re all being confronted with a ‘body ideal’ that is simply unattainable for most women. Instagram is flooded with ‘fit girls’ and ‘killer bodies’, you can’t open up Facebook without being confronted with Kim, Khloe or Kylie’s latest selfies. All of these girls are promoting products they say helped them achieve this ideal body (#bodygoals). Flat tummy tea, lotions to make your butt and breasts grow, lip plumper for fuller lips, waist trainers to get that tiny waist… Thankfully most of us do realize that this is not a realistic body type and most of these Instagram models and celebrities have had plenty of work done to attain this flawless body themselves. It’s not the flat tummy tea, lip plumper or magic lotions creating these beautiful bodies… It’s fat transfers, Brazilian butt lifts and facial injections. Oh, and Photoshop… lots of Photoshop.

You are beautiful just the way you are

I just want to tell you, you’re beautiful just the way you are. Let’s celebrate all different body types and not all try to chase the unattainable ‘ideal’. Having a big butt and a tiny waist is not the standard for being beautiful. True beauty comes from within and once you realize this, your inner light will shine through. So if you’ve been thinking about booking a photo session, but you’ve been putting it off because you’re not quite at that ‘killer body’ point yet… I’m asking you to book your session now and let me capture the beauty I see in you. I would love to show you how beautiful you truly are.

With love,

Madeline
